RGSTC Tennis Team Ladder Rules:

Ranking: Initial ranking is determined by the coaches’estimation of skill level based on observation at practices and previous year’s ranking. The following procedure must be followed in order to move up the ladder.

Challenging: Players can challenge anyone on the ladder within the first three weeks of practice regardless of initial ranking. Challenge matches are done on your own time, in other words not at practice. After the first three weeks, you may only challenge three positions above you on the ladder. For example, if you are 8th on the ladder, you may challenge the 5th, 6th and 7th players. Challenges must be accepted within 3-4 days. If a player fails to respond to a challenge or declines a challenge, that player loses by default. Any player under challenge cannot accept a second challenge until the first one is played out. Once a challenge match is played, you must wait 3 days before challenging back.

Playing the match: Players should play a 10 game pro set, with advantages. This means the first player to win ten games. The winner must win by 2 games. If the score is 10-10, the players will play a tie breaker. The challenger is responsible for providing the balls.

Reporting the Score:
If the match results in a change in the ladder, the score should be reported immediately to Casey 703-489-5110 or Patrick 703-606-0755 so they can adjust the ladder. The winner should report the score. Scores must be reported 2 days prior to an upcoming match in order to change the lineup. Lineups for the matches are based on ladder rankings but may be adjusted at the discretion of the coaches or the team representative.

Good sportsmanship in match play and practice is essential. Players may be suspended if conduct is verified and determined to be unacceptable.

Please contact Patrick or Casey if you have any further questions about the ladder procedures.
